Meet the gorgeous and talented Forrest!

We have been learning about guide dogs this week, and today we were super lucky to have met Forrest, a beautiful wee guide dog puppy.

Forrest is a black labrador, and is only 12 weeks old! He lives with a lovely family who are looking after him until he is old enough to become a working guide dog.

We learnt that Forrest has three brothers, and all of their names begin with F!

Forrest can do two tricks already and has even been for a visit to the local Mall!

We learnt that when guide dogs are working they wear their jacket.

We also learnt that we must always ask the owner if we can pat the dog first; and that if we are near an excited dog we don't know then we should pretend to be a tree so that it ignores us!

Here is the link to find out how to sponsor a red puppy like Forrest. https://blindfoundation.org.nz/guide-dogs/red-puppy-sponsorship/

Heart foundation (Valentines) day.

Today was a great chance to dress up and support a fantastic cause.

We learnt how make cards, and made some beautiful valentines cards for our friends and family.

We even managed to get some fantastic maths learning in after lunch.

Mastering Maths!

Today the students have been learning how to use the maths equipment correctly. This will help them become independent learners and maths masters!

Today we used playing cards, dice and tens frames to learn our basic facts to 5 and basic facts to 10.

Once groups had mastered how to use the maths equipment in order to learn their basic facts, they shared and reflected on their learning with the rest of the class.

How to make a paper

'Chinese fortune teller'.

The students asked if they could learn how to make fortune tellers; this was a great opportunity to work as a team and learn how to follow instructions.

At times it was quite challenging, but the students never gave up!  Those that mastered one step soon turned to offer their help and expertise to others.

We learnt that struggling helped us to learn, and to never give up!

Well done team!
