Where in the world?

Race relations day is on Tuesday, so this week we have been learning about our heritage, where we come from and where we are now.

We took a trip around the world using google earth and found all of the different countries that we come from.

We explored the different signs around our school that celebrated all of the different cultures and languages of the world. This made us feel special and made us feel like we belong.

Bayview school is our Turangawaewae - the place where we stand, our foundation, our place in the world, our home.

We learnt that Turanga means standing place, and waewae means feet. Turangawaewae is often translated as "a place to stand"; a place to feel empowered and connected.
